Brief Introduction

Since the first health related track in International Conference on Information Systems in 2011, Information Systems communities have been committed to understand and promote the role of information technologies (IT) in health. Information technologies have been widely used to facilitate the provision of different healthcare services to solve different health problems. However, the role of information technologies in the healthcare service provision is still vague. Meanwhile, to make information technologies play their expected role and understand both the bright and dark sides of information technologies for healthcare services, several managerial actions should be taken. With the development and application of emerging information technologies like artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, the 5th generation wireless systems and mobile internet in healthcare services, many issues appear and attract more and more attention.
