Brief Introduction

Advancements in disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, the Internet-of-Things (IoT), and augmented reality have significantly altered various facets of digital operations and platforms. These advanced technologies are reshaping domains like healthcare, finance, transportation while also charting new research frontiers in fields like information systems and marketing.
Nevertheless, the widespread adoption of these technologies brings concerns and challenges. The large-scale deployment may exacerbate issues related to social equity, accessibility, and inclusion. Marginalized groups are at risk of facing disadvantages due to technological disruption. Additionally, the extensive collection of personal and behavioral data by platforms raises significant concerns regarding privacy, security, and consent. Questions arise about algorithmic bias, discrimination, and the potential for harm if technologies are applied irresponsibly. There is a pressing need for further efforts to address unintended socioeconomic impacts, enforce ethical best practices, and develop inclusive models of innovation to ensure that technologies fulfill their potential to benefit all of society.
To fully harness the benefits of advanced technologies while mitigating risks, deeper research is needed on how to design, adopt, and incorporate emerging technologies responsibly. This session invites innovative research papers that delve into critical issues at the crossroads of advanced technologies and digital platform ecosystems. We seek groundbreaking papers that employ a diverse array of methodologies, including, but not limited to, analytical models, data analytics, lab experiments, and natural experiments.
We have listed several potential research topics; submissions though are not limited to this list, and we invite high quality, innovative and novel investigations of any e-commerce initiatives and issues enabled by advanced technologies.
