Brief Introduction
Since the inauguration of the first health-focused track at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in 2011, the Information Systems (IS) community has remained dedicated to understanding and advancing the role of information systems (IS) in healthcare. Information systems have been widely used to enhance the delivery of diverse healthcare services and address a spectrum of health-related challenges. However, unprecedented challenges towards the application of information systems in healthcare service delivery and the broader healthcare industry appear in recent years. Meanwhile, to make information systems play their expected role and understand both the bright and dark sides of information technologies for healthcare services, several managerial actions should be taken. With the development and application of emerging information technologies like artificial intelligence, large language models, cloud computing and mobile internet in healthcare services, a host of novel issues emerge and attract more and more attention.
