Brief Introduction

This track aims to provide a forum for researchers to share their frontier research on digital enablement and digital governance. Digital technologies (e.g., social media, mobile Internet and Internet of Things, AI and big data analytics, blockchain and FinTech, cloud computing, and extended reality) are becoming increasingly present in our daily practices and will continue to do so in the future. Digital enablement is the process of leveraging digital technologies (especially those related to the Metaverse and AI) to achieve a targeted outcome or result. It is widely deemed by many as the key to success in the digital transformation of organizations and society at large. For instance, the rise of emerging digital technologies and new business models has significantly transformed firms into digital firms and how they conduct business into e-business. However, with ongoing digital transformation, we have seen an increasing need and importance to tackle the challenges brought by digital technologies and their disruptive effects on individuals, organizations, and society, which underscores the importance of digital governance. For instance, along with the advancement and application of big data analytics and intelligent systems in e-business, we have observed a range of side effects, both intentional and unintentional, and serious threats to privacy, security, and social justice, among others. Thus, it has become more important than ever to ensure the ethical and responsible use of these technologies. Responding to the AIS Grand Vision for the ICT-enabled Bright Society (i.e., Bright ICT Initiative), this track attempts to attract scholarly attention to both the positive and negative aspects of digital technologies. We particularly encourage submissions that explore both the promising and challenging aspects of cutting-edge technologies and innovative business models within the e-business landscape (e.g., sharing economy, social commerce, crowdsourcing, and live streaming commerce, among others).
